Squaraine-Arylamine Sensitizers for Highly Efficient p-Type Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

In this work, new squaraine-triarylamine conjugate dyes are synthesized and explored for all-organic dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs).  Conversion efficiencies are quite low (0.053 - 0.113 %), but they observed that having two carboxylic acid groups for anchoring to the surface gave better results than when they had one.  Also, this is the first reported cosensitized p-type DSSCs (apparently, p-type DSSCs have been lagging behind the n-type in terms of efficiency).
