A bis-NHC diboryne compound has been isolated at room temperature, and it is stable in absence of oxygen/moisture.  It was synthesized by reduction of a bis(N-heterocyclic carbene)-stabilized tetrabromodiborane with either two or four equivalents of sodium naphthalenide.
